How to Teach AI to Engineering Students

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most essential skills in today's job market, and the future. The Fourth Industrial Revolution and the COVID-19 pandemic have accelerated the automation of processes using AI, which is impacting engineering and manufacturing jobs

For educators, incorporating AI into STEM and engineering curriculums will prepare students for their future. AI LABS, designed by RobotLAB, teach students how to apply abstract AI concepts to real-life scenarios with turnkey, state-of-the-art modular learning stations. Students rotate between AI Stations for practical hands-on activities. Each configuration comes with more than 1,000 instructional hoursand they look really cool!

Students get hands-on experiences in everyday artificial intelligence engineering applications in a high school AI LAB. AI stations within a lab include:

  • Humanoid robotics
  • Industry 4.0
  • Smart cities and green energy
  • Space exploration
  • Smart transportation

In the humanoid robotics station, students learn about the human-robot field and how humans and robots can collaborate, an emerging trend in engineering. They learn critical 21st-century skills, such as collaboration, logic, and problem-solving.

AI LABs at the university level enable research and the development of breakthrough artificial intelligence applications. AI stations within a lab include:

  • Intelligent automonous agents
  • Smart warehouse
  • Tele-operation
  • Human-robot interaction
  • Smart farming

At the tele-operation station, students explore how technology can help humans perform advanced tasks that a human can't perform, like remote surgery or bomb detection. Engineering students in this lab learn virtual reality, machine learning and smoothing algorithms, motion sensors, display and control algorithms.

Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly essential for engineering professionals as technology advances. AI LABs by RobotLAB provide engineering instructors with the hardware, software, and instructional guides to teach abstract AI concepts in practical and engaging ways.
