Learning systems for Industry 4.0
Festo cyber-physical learning and research platforms, CP Lab and CP Factory, provide fundamental and in-depth knowledge of fully-automated digital production technologies, as well as the layout and programming of digital equipment networks. The individual modules of these platforms model the workstations of actual production systems. This creates a strong foundation for learning the many technology areas associated with the operation and continuous optimization of networked systems.
Teaching and Research Topics:

Qualification for Industry 4.0
Festo learning systems are equipped with innovative industrial technologies, so that the knowledge required for digital production can be imparted in a practical manner, while simultaneously developing skills through hands-on trial and error. This approach involves:
- Cyber-physical systems
- RFID and NFC technologies
- Intelligent vertical and horizontal networking
- Plug & produce
- Monitoring of system states and energy consumption
- Mobile robotics
Student Success Story
“After graduating from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts in 2023, I was selected to intern at a top automotive manufacturing plant. I was on the controls and the automation team, where I had the opportunity to operate among robots, PLCs and Festo systems on the factory floor. Until I started my internship, I did not realize that the Cyber-Physical manufacturing training system at my university is actually a smaller replica of what’s happening right now in industry.” Read full story here.
