What do you love about New England?
Working in this business has really given me an appreciation for all the diversity each state has to offer. I enjoy being able to spend time in Cape Ann, Massachusetts striper fishing and boating and taking advantage of the great mountain biking trails nearby. I love Maine for its coastline, NH for hiking, VT for skiing, RI for the Narragansett Bay and CT for the awesome Connecticut River that’s a blast for boating.
What are some of the most rewarding projects you’ve worked on?
Working on This Old House has been a cool experience. We were invited to demonstrate how to use a 3D scanner to repair, replicate and 3D print architectural molding on location in antique homes in Arlington, MA and Detroit, MI.
Particularly rewarding was a recent community college project where we consulted in all three categories: digital fabrication equipment for a makerspace, technical training equipment for a robotics and automation program and STEM-based experiments for engineering teaching labs.
Which recent project stands out to you as a great investment in the future of students?
Helping local libraries to plan and install makerspaces is very rewarding because it gives students of all ages a space where they can actualize their ideas. Pictured below is the library makerspace at New Haven Free Public Library where we recently installed a CNC router, Epilog laser cutter, and MakerBot 3D printer. We love to see how this beautiful community space is already really serving to democratize the design and making process for local residents.

Which recent project stands out to you as a great investment in the future of students?
I had the pleasure of getting involved in the Advanced Manufacturing/Engineering project at Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School from the start. I was fortunate to collaborate with the former Director-now-Superintendent, Heidi Riccio. Working so closely with Dr. Riccio was fantastic and helped us to develop a program that will benefit students in the North Shore for many years to come. We were able to construct a new Innovation Lab that includes CNC machines, laser engravers and 3D printers. In addition, the students will have access to a state-of-the-art plasma cutter, CNC router and welding booths. The leadership at Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School can really see into the future of manufacturing and their students will be the beneficiary of this vision.
What do you like most about living in New England?
What I most like about living in New England is being close to the Atlantic Ocean. My entire family enjoys the water, whether it’s kayaking, fishing, swimming or just hanging on the beach. Being so close to the ocean is a treat for us.
What current or emerging technologies do you think will have the most long-ranging impact?
I see virtual and augmented reality as emerging technologies that we need to pay close attention to. Companies are now learning how to use these technologies in all aspects of their business.

I love the change of seasons and the weather that comes along with living in NE. Having a variety of outdoor sports and a change in wardrobe is also great, with fall being my favorite. Beaches and mountains only a short drive away is something you just can't experience everywhere. The sports teams...what more is there to say?
What is the most gratifying part of working in the education market?
Knowing that the services and equipment we provide to schools make a real and lasting impact on students' lives.
Aside from your interest in technology and education, do you have any other hobbies?
I've played hockey all my life and still play every week in my men's hockey league. I stay active at the gym and enjoy golfing with my friends. Is eating food a hobby??

I am an engineer with a passion for teaching. I started teaching in 1995 at the college level, and I also have been a lecturer at Laval University in Canada. After several years I moved to international trainings with Lab-Volt and then Festo. It is important to me that the next generation has a great future and I strongly believe that education is crucial to reach that goal, and especially technical education, which requires hands-on equipment. It is very close to my heart that schools' teachers have the tools they need, which includes expanding their knowledge, as we live in a world in constant evolution. It is also important that they are able to use their existing equipment as much as possible, to introduce new teachers to what they already have and may be unaware of.

What do you like most about living in New England?
What makes New England my home is family and the glorious Seasons that bring endless change throughout the year. I greatly appreciate the fresh life that emerges in the spring, the warm lively summer nights, the iconic foliage in the fall... and believe it or not, I even have a love for the winter snowfall. The diversity throughout the year always keeps it exciting.
What is the most gratifying part of working in the education market?
Working with educational institutions, educators and students really gives me a kind of a warm feeling inside. It is fulfilling caring for our community's educational technologies and knowing that we are enabling them in their research and learning. Where I work in the Service Department, I make sure the equipment is up and running properly and it is extremely gratifying getting the students back online ASAP so they can get back to doing what they love and do best, CREATING!
Aside from your interest in technology and education, do you have any other hobbies?
The hobby that takes most of my time is Muay Thai kickboxing. I have been training since I was 14 and it has helped shape me into the person I am today. Whenever I get the chance, I also love taking my snow mobile out for a spin, walking my treasured pooch, and playing blues guitar.
“When we received an advanced manufacturing grant from Governor Baker, AET was a great resource to guide us through the process of design, equipment selection, and installation. Our program is now equipped with equipment that will provide our students with cutting edge technology which will prepare them for college and career readiness.”
“AET Labs has been our savior in creating the Blackstone Valley Education Hub (BV Ed Hub)! The Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce was fortunate enough to receive a large Work Skills Capital Grant from the MA Department of Higher Ed to create fabrication, design and computer labs. AET Labs provided us with the expertise and know-how we needed to successfully reach our goals. . . At the end of the project we got rave reviews from the community, our students, teachers, schools and our legislators.”
AET Labs provides excellent sales and service: I can call them anytime I need assistance. They are my best source for equipment: no pressure, affordable and innovative solutions, flexibility, excellent follow through. The bottom line is that AET is just a great company to work with.
In 13 years of teaching, I have not found a better vendor to work with. They do not try to oversell and they back up their sales with excellent service.
I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful customer service/support I received today from one of your workers, Matt Campbell.
In my 30 or so years of teaching, I have never been as impressed with a salesperson/company as I was today.
Matt worked diligently, for hours, putting together all of my new equipment without pause. It would have taken me days to do what he did in a matter of a few hours. What a polite and hard working young man that you have working for you!
Thank you again for the excellent service. It was greatly appreciated.”
I just wanted to reach out and tell you how great it is to have Zach as our repair tech. He is professional and courteous and is ALWAYS available when I contact him.”
I am taking this opportunity to share my gratitude for Zach’s courteous service work on our uPrint SE plus. I enjoy just chatting with him. He’s a super nice guy and very knowledgeable, and able to assist me with GrabCad as well during this past visit.
I wish to inform you of my satisfaction with Zach’s work – beyond satisfaction – more like impressed with his professionalism. He kept in close touch with me to arrange his visit and offered options for upgrading and improving our CAD / 3D printing programming.
