There are over 320,000 CTE students in New England at the secondary and post-secondary levels. They are getting hands-on training and gaining skills and certifications to join the workforce without a traditional 4-year degree.
For CTE month, we want to celebrate the amazing instructors who have been training CTE students.
Many teachers have been proactive in learning new technology and getting certified to teach new topics to bring the latest industry-relevant skills to their students. Here are some teachers we would like to celebrate for their work in bringing cutting-edge training to their students:
At Minuteman High School, Tina Collins has been certified by NC3 to teach industry 4.0 skills. Her high school students have completed four courses in the Festo Industry 4.0 Certification Program, Intro to Mechatronics, AC, DC, and PLCs.
Patrick McColl at Essex North Shore uses Universal Robots collaborative robots, and his students are being certified in the same robotics technology that companies use worldwide.
At Sanford Regional Technical Center, Russ Clark is teaching his drafting students digital fabrication skills by incorporating laser cutters and 3D printers in projects. He challenges his students to build prototypes with laser-cut plywood.
Mike Rannikko, recently retired from Leominster High School, has been an active member of the CAD community dedicating his time to sharing projects and resources with other CAD instructors throughout his career. He was honored as the CAD Teacher of the Year at the 2021 New England CAD-Engineering Teachers Summit.
Mitch Sweet at Diman Regional Technical High School and Kristen Magas at Tri-Country Regional Technical High School have taken 3D printing to the next level. They incorporate the Stratasys Advanced Manufacturing Certification into their programs.
